MATCH REPORT: Barnet FC 2 Aldershot Town 1 (A) (Vanarama National League)

A late goal from Rob Hall condemned Aldershot Town to defeat away at Barnet, losing 2-1 away at the Hive Stadium.

Barnet went in front through Kian Flanagan, before debutant Mo Sylla equalised only five minutes after coming on.

Four minutes from time, the hosts went back in front through substitute Hall, who volleyed in for 2-1.

Mark Molesley made three changes to the side from midweek, with Gime Toure, Laurie Walker, and Mo Bettamer coming in for Ryan Glover, Mitch Walker, and Corie Andrews.

Aldershot had their first clear chance of the game seven minutes in. Lewis Kinsella’s cross was met by Toby Edser, but his header didn’t trouble Aston Oxborough.

The hosts did have chances of their own. Ephron Mason-Clark forced a smart save from Walker, before Wes Fonguck fired wide.

Edser troubled again for The Shots, with his venomous effort being stopped well by Oxborough in the Barnet goal.

It was Edser again who came close, with the midfielder connecting well from a Kinsella corner. His low effort was saved well by Oxborough.

But it would be Barnet who went in front. With Gime Toure off the pitch needing treatment, Flanagan found a way past Walker for the game’s opener. Toure was unable to continue, with Corie Andrews replacing him.

The home side did have the ball in the net for the second time, but Mason-Clark’s header was ruled out for offside.

Mo Sylla was brought on for his Shots debut five minutes after the restart, replacing James Vennings.

Only five minutes later, he made an instant impact. After Barnet failed to clear a free-kick from Kinsella, Sylla fired in past Oxborough for the equaliser.

Moseley made his third and final sub just before the hour mark, with Ryan Glover coming on for Mo Bettamer.

The Shots almost went in front through an unlikely source. Kinsella had a go from distance, and saw his effort fly just wide of the post.

Mikael Ndjoli had an opportunity to put Aldershot in front. His curling effort was deflected just over the crossbar.

Barnet would go back in front four minutes from time. Hall was given too much time on the edge of the box, and volleyed beyond Walker.

Ndjoli almost found an instant reply for The Shots. Scott Wagstaff broke into the Barnet area and clipped the ball to Ndjoli, whose header was just wide of the post.

Aldershot are back in action on November 13th, with Grimsby Town the visitors to the EBB Stadium.
