MATCH REPORT: Aldershot Town u23s 3 Westfield Reserves 0 (H) (Suburban Cup)

Aldershot Town U23’s were dominant in a 3-0 win versus Westfield Reserves at Leatherhead Youth FC to progress into the next round of the Suburban Cup.

The first half an hour saw both teams settle into the game as Macallister managed to find some pockets of space setting up chances for Vine and Horn-Haynes, both well saved by the keeper.

Then when Westfield were able to break, Osu was dominant at the back for The Shots, clearing anything that came into the box.

As the second half progressed, The Shots hit the post twice through a shot from Vine and a free kick from Anderson.

This hard work eventually resulted in a goal as Vine won the ball in the middle of the park, playing the ball too Jones, who calmly chipped the ball over the diving keeper to make it 1-0 to The Shots.

The second half started similar to the first as both teams looked to gain some possession.

Westfield won a free kick, which was cleared by The Shots and a promising move on the break resulted in Anderson slotting home from close range to move the score onto 2-0.

Shortly after Mcallister latched onto a ball at the back post to make it 3-0 to The Shots.

As the second half drew on, both teams started to get more physical and there were a few scuffles leading to Westfield free kicks, all cleared well by The Shots defence.

Towards the end of the game The Shots controlled the tempo and had chances to increase the score as Anderson, Macallister and Grosch all had shots saved.

In reflection, a dominant performance by The Shots that sees them into the next round of the Suburban Cup.
