MATCH REPORT: Aldershot Town u18s 6 Basingstoke Town u18s 0 (H) (FA Youth Cup)

Aldershot Town u18s progressed into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a dominant 6-0 victory over Basingstoke Town u18s at the EBB Stadium on Wednesday night.

An first-half hat-trick from Harvey Limb, a brace from Flynn Bolton, and a composed chip from Mackenzie Toms insured the win for the Shots.

From the first minute and with First-Team Management Staff Mark Molesley and Terry Brown in attendance for the evening, Aldershot Town looked to be the team in the ascendancy and the early pressure paid off with Limb scoring his first of three in just the fourth minute.

Mackenzie Tom showed great movement to create space inside the penalty area just before the goal, before teeing up Limb who in turn did well to find the space for the shot that saw him open the scoring early in the game.

The Shots continued to push from there and it wasn’t long before Limb got his second of the game with team-mate Toms heavily involved in it’s creation again in the 18th minute.

A dinked ball into the box from Toms allowed Limb to climb highest and head home from just a few yards to give Aldershot Town a deserved two-goal lead.

The pressure continued to pay off for the Shots and Limb picked up his hat-trick just 5 minutes later, with 23 minutes played.

Limb pounced on a mistake at the back and showed great composure to come forward and pick up the match-ball after great anticipation to score inside the penalty area with just over 20 minutes played.

There was still time in the first-half for an Aldershot Town fourth as it was Flynn Bolton who notched a fourth for The Shots with a well-taken finish into the far-right corner in the 31st minute.

This goal ended what was a dominant first-half for Aldershot Town as they looked to show a composed performance in the second-half that would see them through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup.

In what was a more controlled second-half from Aldershot Town, the young Shots found a fifth from Bolton again as having seen his penalty initially saved, he was quickest to react to tap in the rebound in the 51st minute.

However, the evening was rounded off what was an impressive display with the influential Toms scoring a sixth with a composed chip over the keeper in the 78th minute to see Aldershot Town into the next round of the FA Youth Cup.

This in turn, sees the under 18s progress after a dominant performance as they await to see who they will face in the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
