MATCH PREVIEW: Wealdstone (FA Trophy)

The Shots welcome Wealdstone to the EBB Stadium again this weekend as we kick off our Isuzu FA Trophy campaign.

Wealdstone currently sit in 20th position in the Vanarama National League with 19 points and four wins from their opening 19 games.

The Stones enjoyed a decent run in the Emirates FA Cup this season but were knocked out of the competition by League One table-toppers Wycombe Wanderers last weekend in a 2-0 defeat.

RECENT FORM

Wealdstone have enjoyed a good spell of form recently and their only loss in their last five games is the aforementioned defeat to high-flying Wycombe.

Alex Reid and Max Kretzschmar scored in a 2-0 win over the nine-men of Aldershot in their visit to the EBB Stadium a month ago and a 2-0 win over Rochdale and draw away to Eastleigh continued an unbeaten run of five games in the Vanarama National League.

  • 05/11/24 – Wealdstone 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers
  • 02/11/24 – Eastleigh 1-1 Wealdstone
  • 26/10/24 – Wealdstone 2-0 Rochdale
  • 23/10/24 – Wealdstone 3-1 Southampton U21
  • 09/11/24 – Aldershot Town 0-2 Wealdstone

IN THE DUGOUT

Matt Taylor is the man in charge of Wealdstone. The former Portsmouth and West Ham player who racked up over 300 Premier League appearances has been in charge at Grosvenor Vale since May 2024.

the 42-year-old’s first step into management was a Caretaker Manager of Swindon Town whilst still a player, but joined Tottenham Hotspur as their Under 18s Manager upon retirement in 2019.

Taylor has had two spells in charge of senior sides in the EFL, spending time in charge of Walsall and Shrewsbury Town before joining Wealdstone in the summer.
