The Shots welcome Southend United to the EBB Stadium for a midweek fixture under the lights.
The Shrimpers are making a 176-mile round trip from Roots Hall and are in their fourth season in the National League after facing back-to-back relegations from League One in 2019/20 and 2020/21. They currently sit 15th in the National League after 14 games so far this campaign.
RECENT FORM
It’s been a mixture of results for Southend in their last five games with two wins, two losses and a draw, with one of those victories seeing Kevin Maher’s side progress in the Emirates FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Eastleigh.
Those two wins have come in their last two games and the Shrimpers are unbeaten in their last four away games.

- 05/10/24 – Southend United 0-2 Maidenhead United

IN THE DUGOUT
In charge of Southend United is club legend Kevin Maher who has racked up over 600 appearances for the Shrimpers with 454 of those coming as a player.
Maher spent over 10 years at Roots Hall in his playing career andcaptained Southend to promotion twice, from League Two to the Championship, in back-to-back seasons between 2004 and 2006.
Maher returned to Southend in 2015 as a coach for the youth teams, and the following month was named as the U21 manager. He had a brief spell away from Southend with Bristol Rovers as First-Team Coach, and on two occasions was put in temporary charge of the first team, but in 2021 Maher once again returned to Southend: This time as Manager.
The last two campaigns have seen the club finish just outside the playoffs on both occasions, in 8th and 9th place respectively with Maher earning a lot of plaudits for his ability to lead Southend to very respectable finishes given their financial troubles.
LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between Aldershot Town and Southend United at the EBB Stadium came in late September 2023 as the points were shared. Lorent Tolaj scored a brilliant, long-range rocket to put the Shots in front, but Harry Cardwell equalised for the Shrimpers in the second-half.
The return fixture at Roots Hall in February 2024 saw Southend take all three points as a red card to Rollin Menayese saw Josh Stokes’ opener cancelled out and two late goals inflate the scoreline to a 4-1 win for the home side.
