The Shots are back on the road this evening with a trip to Roots Hall to take on Southend United.
The Shrimpers currently occupy 10th in the Vanarama National League with 43 points from their 31 games so far, picking 11 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses.
Southend’s top scorer this season is right-back Gus Scott-Morriss who has scored 12 times. The defender has also chipped in with four assists and sits joint-top of their creative chart alongside Oliver Coker.
RECENT FORM
Four of Southend’s last five games have come at Roots Hall as they’ve picked up two wins and a draw in the Vanarama National League, whilst losing to the Shots’ Isuzu FA Trophy Quarter-Final opponents Sittingbourne in the Fifth Round.
Southend’s only away game in their last five came at York Road where they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Maidenhead United.
After their loss to Maidenhead, The Shrimpers have returned to Roots Hall with a win against FC Halifax Town and a 1-1 draw against Rochdale on Saturday.

IN THE DUGOUT
In charge of Southend United is club legend Kevin Maher who has racked up over 600 appearances for the Shrimpers with 454 of those coming as a player.
Maher spent over 10 years at Roots Hall in his playing career andcaptained Southend to promotion twice, from League Two to the Championship, in back-to-back seasons between 2004 and 2006.
Maher returned to Southend in 2015 as a coach for the youth teams, and the following month was named as the U21 manager. He had a brief spell away from Southend with Bristol Rovers as First-Team Coach, and on two occasions was put in temporary charge of the first team, but in 2021 Maher once again returned to Southend: This time as Manager.
FORMER SHOTS
Joe Gubbins – The defender played three games for the Shots in the middle of the 21/22 season on loan from QPR and remained undefeated in those three appearances!
Nathan Ralph – Another current Shrimper who spent time on loan at the EBB Stadium; Nathan Ralph played 12 times for the Shots at the end of the 15/16 season, scoring in a 2-1 win over Braintree Town.
