MATCH PREVIEW: Southend

After a successful few days at the EBB Stadium Aldershot Town are back on the road, this time travelling to Roots Hall to take on Southend United.

The clash comes following two crucial victories for Aldershot against Barnet and Altrincham, which sees them in fifth place coming into this weekend’s game.

In their way at Roots Hall is Southend United. Also known as “the Shrimpers”, the Shots will be travelling to their 12,000 capacity ground Roots Hall.

LAST TIME OUT

Despite the struggles off the field Southend United were a good outfit when they came to the EBB Stadium. A strike from distance by Lorent Tolaj gave the Shots the lead just before the break, but Harry Cardwell scored in the second half to give both sides a point at the EBB Stadium.

The Shots visit to Southend last season was a very successful outing. Despite going behind, Tyler Frost and Joe Partington scored to give the Shots all the points in a 2-1 victory at Roots Hall.

SINCE WE MET

Following our clash Southend got 7/9 points in a draw against Rochdale and wins against Woking and Oxford City. Their National League form continued, but the side were eliminated by Yeovil in the FA Cup. The side felt league defeat twice after our clash until Christmas, but were also eliminated from the FA Trophy by Hampton & Richmond.

However, form has taken a turn for Southend, picking up just one win in their last five.
