MATCH PREVIEW: Shots v Wrexham

WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?

Aldershot culminate their run of home fixtures by welcoming Wrexham to the EBB this Saturday. The fixture is the final game in a run of six home games, with the Shots having won two, drawn two and lost one during the run.

HOW HAVE THEY DONE THIS SEASON?

Wrexham are currently locked in a battle for the National League title with Notts County, and have picked up 72 points from 30 games and are sat 5 points off the top with 2 games in hand. The Welsh side made a good account of themselves in the FA Cup as they made it to the fourth round, eventually losing to stoppage time goals from Sheffield United as they lost 3-1 in a fourth round replay. In the FA Trophy, Wrexham were knocked out by Altrincham on penalties in the fourth round.

LAST TIME OUT:

Earlier in the season, Aldershot travelled to Wrexham and were run out 2-0 losers by Phil Parkinson’s side. Goals came from Paul Mullin and James Jones in the first half, as Wrexham took all the points.

Aldershot last beat Wrexham in February 2021, as a double from Joel Nouble and goal from Jermaine Anderson gave Aldershot a 3-0 win over Wrexham at the EBB.

ONE TO WATCH: PAUL MULLIN

Paul Mullin is currently the second top scorer in the National League, having scored 22 in 30 in the league. In all competitions, Mullin has 30 goals in 35 games, having scored an impressive 8 in 5 in the FA Cup. Mullin joined Wrexham from Cambridge in 21/22, and scored 26 in 38 in his first season in the National League. He joined Wrexham after an impressive 32 goals in 46 games for Cambridge in League Two, and has continued to be a bagsman for Wrexham as he looks to fire them into the Football League.
