MATCH PREVIEW: Shots v Eastleigh

WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?

The Shots face a quick turnaround from Friday’s draw with Yeovil, as they travel to Silverlake Stadium to take on Hampshire rivals Eastleigh. The game is Tommy Widdrington’s first away game as Shots dugout, and is the second game in the Easter Weekend double header for Aldershot. The Shots have just two more away games after this clash, with Wealdstone and York the only trips left for Widdrington’s side.

HOW HAVE THEY DONE THIS SEASON?

The Spitfires have won 19 of their 41 National League games this season, and have picked up 64 points as they sit 7th in the table, the final playoff position in the National League.

Eastleigh made it to the fifth round of the FA Trophy after beating Woking and Braintree, but were beaten by Maidstone in the fifth round. The Spitfires were set up with two National League ties in the FA Cup, and were winners against Dorking, but were beaten by Boreham Wood in the first round.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The last time the two sides met was in October this season, and the game ended 0-0. Aldershot’s record against Eastleigh in the last 5 meetings is 1-2-2, however the two Eastleigh wins came at the EBB, meaning the Shots last three visits to Silverlake Stadium have all seen the Shots come away with points, with two draws and a win.

The previous clash in Eastleigh saw the Shots score three times in the second half, with a Corrie Andrews brace and a Lewis Kinsella strike handing the Shots a 3-0 victory on the road in Hampshire.
