MATCH PREVIEW: Gateshead (A)

The Shots will be making the 610 mile round trip from the EBB Stadium to the Gateshead International Stadium to face Gateshead this weekend.

Gateshead currently lie 4th in the Vanarama National League having picked up 10 wins from the 17 games they’ve played so far this season. Striker Owen Oseni is their top scorer with 6 goals so far this campaign.

RECENT FORM

Gateshead’s last five games have seen two wins, two losses and a draw.

After being knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Step 4 Hednesford Town in a replay at the Gateshead International Stadium, Gateshead recovered with two strong away showings at Altrincham and Sutton before picking up a win at home against Solihull Moors in the replay of last year’s FA Trophy final.

Their most recent game, however, was the only loss in the Vanarama National League in their last four games as they fell to a 3-0 defeat away to AFC Fylde.

* 09/11/24 – AFC Fylde 3-0 Gateshead
* 26/10/24 – Gateshead 1-0 Solihull Moors
* 23/10/24 – Sutton United 0-1 Gateshead
* 19/10/24 – Altrincham 2-2 Gateshead
* 15/10/24 – Gateshead 1-3 Hednesford Town

IN THE DUGOUT

Carl Magnay now occupies the Gateshead dugout following previous Manager Rob Elliot’s move to League One side Crawley Town.

Magnay retired as a player whilst with Gateshead in 2023 and immediately joined the coaching team. He then followed Mike Williamson to MK Dons and Carlisle, before being tempted back to the Gateshead International Stadium following Elliot’s departure in October.

LAST TIME OUT

The Shots’ last visit to the Gateshead International Stadium saw a 1-0 win for Aldershot. Kwame Thomas scored the only goal of the game after Gateshead were forced to play with Defender and Assistant Managed Louis Storey in goal after a red card to Gateshead ‘keeper Nathan Harness.

Last season’s clash at the EBB Stadium finished level as Josh Stokes’ opener was cancelled out by Ed Francis’ late goal saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw.

FORMER SHOTS
