WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?
Tommy Widdrington’s Shots are back on the road after two wins at the EBB, travelling to Meadowbank Stadium to take on Dorking Wanderers. The game comes following four successive wins for the Shots against Solihull Moors, Lewes, Hartlepool and Maidenhead, and the Shots will be looking to make it just two defeats in 11 games tomorrow.
In the way are Dorking Wanderers. Aldershot will be travelling to Dorking’s home ground Meadowbank Stadium, where they have been located since 2018. Nicknamed “the Wanderers”, the club were initially founded in 1999, making them 24-years-old.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
Aldershot and Dorking met three times in the 2022/23 season, twice in the National League and once in the FA Trophy. The Shots were winners on all three occasions.
The first came at Meadowbank, where the Shots ran out 3-0 victors against the Wanderers thanks to goals from Inih Effiong, Tyler Cordner and Tommy Willard. It was another clean sheet and another three points at the EBB in the reverse fixture, this time Justin Amaluzor and Ryan Glover were the scorers.
The Shots progressed past Dorking in the FA Trophy a week after their clash in the National League, Tyler Cordner the provider again for the Shots as they knocked the Wanderers out of the FA Trophy.
LAST SEASON:
Dorking, as mentioned before, made it to the fifth round of the FA Trophy, but were knocked out by Aldershot Town at the EBB. The Wanderers were eliminated in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup at Meadowbank by Eastleigh.
A maiden season in the division saw Marc White and Dorking finish 16th in the National League, winning 16 games and picking up 57 points over 46 games. The Wanderers will be pleased to have retained the services of James McShane, as McShane played the most minutes and scored the most goals for Dorking last season, a crucial part of Marc White’s side.
23/24 SO FAR:
Dorking are currently 17th in the National League, and have won five games out of 16 so far this campaign. Their five wins have come against Southend, Halifax, Wealdstone, Ebbsfleet and Hartlepool, with the Wanderers also picking up draws against Oldham, Eastleigh and York.
Dorking were knocked out in the FA Cup against Horsham after a 2-0 loss in the fourth qualifying round.
