MATCH PREVIEW: Boreham Wood

WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?

The Shots play a second game on the road in the National League, travelling to Meadow Park to take on Boreham Wood. The clash is a second on the road for Tommy Widdrington’s side, the first coming on Tuesday night, as Aldershot travelled to the Hive in a valiant but losing effort to the leagues third placed side Barnet.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The last meeting at Meadow Park was a winning effort for the travelling Shots, as goals from Justin Amaluzor and Ryan Glover gave Aldershot all the points on the road in August last season. The return fixture at the EBB wasn’t as memorable for Aldershot, as a Tyrone Marsh scored an 83rd minute winner for Boreham Wood to give the visitors all the points.

LAST SEASON:

Boreham Wood made it to the final four of the playoffs last season, seeing off Barnet at the Hive to earn a trip to National League runners up Notts County. Two dramatic late goals would break Boreham Wood hearts, as Aden Baldwin scored a 97th minute equaliser, and Jodi Jones scored a winner for Notts County in the 120th minute to end Boreham Wood’s promotion hopes.

Boreham Wood have made a habit of FA Cup runs, and last season went to the third round of the competition, where they met Football League Accrington Stanley, and were knocked out via a replay. The FA Trophy was less of a success for Boreham Wood, as they lost their first clash to Southend.

23/24 SO FAR:

Boreham Wood are sat one place above Aldershot on 11 points, the two sides split by only goal difference. The Wood have won twice this season, against Maidenhead and Halifax Town, have drawn five and lost three times in the opening 10 games of the National League season.
