Bath City make their first visit to the EBB Stadium this weekend as we kick-off our Emirates FA Cup campaign for the 24/25 season. In fact, this is the first ever competitive meeting between Aldershot Town and Bath City so let’s take a look at our new opponent!
Bath’s best performance in the FA Cup has seen them reach the Third Round on six occasions but the Romans haven’t made it to the First Round Proper since their relegation from the Conference Premier in 2012.
So far this season, the Romans have made it past two rounds in the FA Cup; beating Merthyr Town 2-1 at home in the Second Qualifying Round and beating Salisbury away with the same scoreline in the Third Qualifying Round.
Bath currently sit 17th in the National League South with four wins from their first 10 games. They’ve scored 11 goals so far this season and their top scorer is Sol Wanjau-Smith with three of those.
IN THE DUGOUT
Jerry Gill is in charge of Bath City and the 54-year-old has occupied the Twerton Park dugout since 2017.
Gill made 164 appearances for Bath City in his playing days that also saw him play for the likes of Yeovil Town, Birmingham City, Northampto Town and Cheltenham Town.
Since retiring in 2010, Gill spent much of his time between then and 2017 in the academy setups of Bristol Rovers, Kidderminster Harriers, Norwich City and Wolves before he returned to Bath City in October 2017.
Since then, Gill has led Bath into the NLS playoffs on three occasions, but each time has fallen at the first hurdle: Losing 3-1 to Wealdstone in 2019, 2-1 to Dorking Wanderers in 2020 and 1-0 AET to Braintree Town last season.
FORMER SHOTS
Scott Wilson is the only former Shot within the Bath City ranks. The striker spent just a month on loan at the EBB Stadium towards the end of the 21/22 season making two appearances.
