Nickname: The Terras
Manager: Brian Stock
Stadium: Bob Lucas Stadium
2019/20 National League South Final Position: 3rd (promoted via play-offs)
The Gaffer: 39-year-old Brian Stock, a Welsh International back in his playing days, was appointed Manager of the Terras in Setpember 2020, following the departure of former Shots favourite Mark Molesley, who left to take charge of League Two Southend United. Stock made 500+ appearances across a twenty-year playing career, most notably for Bournemouth, Doncaster Rovers and Havant & Waterlooville.
There were very few departures from the Bob Lucas Stadium following Weymouth’s promotion to the National League and Molesley’s departure. Stock would though, have to tackle the club’s first season back in the top tier of Non-League without fellow wingers Abdulai Baggie, who joined Eastleigh and Yemi Odubade (Eastbourne Borough). Stephane Zubar joined Yeovil and former Shots striker Brett Williams moved into a Player-Coach role at Totton.
Stock originally retained 13 players from last season’s promotion squad, although Tom Whelan has since departed to join Chesterfield. Players retained include; Left Back Ollie Harfield, Midfielder Josh Wakefield, Utility player Jake McCarthy and former Shots forward Josh McQuoid.
There have been 12 new arrivals at Weymouth since Stock took the reins. Alefe Santos moved from the EBB to the Bob Lucas along with another player that appeared for Shots on loan last season, Hartlepool United Centre-Back Myles Anderson. Other notable incomings included forwards Cody Cooke (St Mirren) and Sean Shields (Ebbsfleet United).
The Terras have had a tough start to life in the National League and have so far picked up 12 points from their 17 games played. There three wins came against Kings Lynn (2-1), Stockport County (2-1) and on Saturday v Hartlepool United (1-0) thanks to a Josh McQuoid strike. They have also drawn with Eastleigh (twice) and Altrincham on the opening day of the season.
Tuesday’s Referee is unknown at this time.
The match will be streamed and available on ‘Shots TV Live’ HERE with Presenter Mark Butler, Commentator Rob Worrall and special guests Lewis Kinsella and former Shots manager Terry Brown. BBC Radio Surrey Sport will also be covering the match with live online commentary available on the evening.
