WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?
The Shots are facing a familiar pre-season opponent in AFC Totton. Having beaten AFC Sudbury 1-0 on Tuesday night, thanks to a Jack Barham header, Tommy Widdrington’s side will be hoping to carry on getting important minutes in the tank.
HOW DID THEY DO LAST SEASON?
Totton had a season to remember last campaign as they picked up a treble of competition wins. The Stags gained promotion to the Southern Premier League South as champions of the Southern Premier League South Division One and picked up another trophy by beating Southern Premier League Central Division One winners Berkhamstead in a Champion of Champions one-off game.
Totton then rounded off a remarkable season by lifting the SDFA Southampton Senior Saturday Cup with a 3-0 win over Sholing at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.
Former Shot Scott Rendell played a crucial role for the Stags last season as their league top scorer and chipping in with a penalty at St Mary’s in the Southampton Cup final.
The Shots also made the trip to Totton’s Snows Stadium last summer as the sides played out a 2-2 draw.
An Archie Davies goal and a wonderful Joe Partington free-kick rescued the game for Aldershot after falling 2-0 behind within the first 10 minutes.
