On Thursday 6th March, together with the Shots Foundation, we took the part in the Regional Stage of the National League Trust (NLT) Tournament. The NLT tournament is an event organised to give local schools in local communities the chance to represent their club and even reach Wembley which, as we know, last year our mixed team made it all the way to Wembley and just missed out on the trophy.
Back in September, we held our own preliminary tournament to decide which teams would represent us and Aldershot Town FC at the Regional Stage. Both mixed and girls tournaments were won by South Farnham School.
Both teams performed fantastically on the day, the mixed team were unlucky to miss out having come 3rd in their group and missing out on a semi-final spot via goal difference after two wins, one draw, and one defeat. The girls team progressed as victors of their group, winning two and losing one of their group games.
The girls moved on to face Slough Town in the semi-finals where they progressed on penalties after a tight 0-0 draw. It was plain sailing in the final, however, where a 2-0 victory over Maidenhead United secured the trophy and a place at the next stage of the tournament! Victory at the South Tournament would see South Farnham represent us at Wembley again, before the National League Playoff final on June 1st.
We would like to thank all of our footballers who represented us on the day, their parents/teachers for bringing them there, Cardinals in the Community for their organisation of the day, and the National League Trust for providing communities with this opportunity.
