Jake Features In England Victory

Midfielder Jake Gallagher won his seventh cap as England C began their International Challenge Trophy campaign with a 2-0 victory against Ukraine U20 in Kiev.

First half goals from Forest Green Rovers’ Kurtis Guthrie and Wrexham’s Kayden Jackson sealed what in the end was a comfortable win for the Non-League Lions.

After the match, Jake – who played 90 minutes before being substituted in injury-time – told TheFA.com: “It was a good all round performance. We did what the gaffer said. We pressed from the front, tried to nick the ball high up the pitch and took our chances well. In the second half I felt we controlled the game. I really enjoyed playing with all the lads – we came together really well in a short space of time and were all proud to pull on the England shirt.”

The Shots’ other international representative, Rhys Browne, is in the Antigua and Barbuda squad which faces Aruba in a Caribbean Cup qualifying tie tonight, with kick-off at 11.30pm UK time.
