Aldershot Town have again been nominated in the Business and the Community category at the Inspire Business Awards.
Winners of the award in 2014, The Shots are nominated alongside Aldershot Enterprise Centre and Accelerate Driving School for the accolade, which recognises the impact made by businesses in their own community.
A shortlist of three in each of the 12 categories will now await the glittering gala dinner on Thursday 10 November, where over 500 esteemed guests will gather in anticipation of the announcement.
Felicity Edwards, Managing Director of Destination Basingstoke, the organiser of the annual Inspire Awards programme, said: “As always it’s fascinating to see the business behind the nomination, and meet the real people that make these north Hampshire businesses so successful, so I am looking forward to taking part in the visits!”
Also nominated, as both Entrepreneur of the Year and Business of the Year, is Robert Collard, of Club sponsor Collards, a haulage, demolition and skip hire company based in Eversley.
The nomination follows successful community initiatives including fundraising to help rebuild two schools in earthquake-hit Nepal; continued work with local homeless charity Step By Step and palliative care providers Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice; the ATFC Football in the Community Trust’s award-winning Schools Project which reached over 15000 children in 2015-16; fundraising for the British Heart Foundation in association with Aldershot’s St Joseph’s School; raising awareness of diabetes by offering free tests to supporters, with Club sponsor GlucoRx; support for Prostate Cancer UK’s fundraising through the annual Non-League Day; the signing of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant; the Seats For Soldiers scheme which offers free match tickets to armed forces personnel; fundraising activities with ABF – the Soldiers Charity; and support for anti-bullying charity Kidscape in association with Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year campaign.
