HEAR FROM JOHN COLEMAN & DEANE WOOD

With times uncertain over the past few months, collectively club chairman Deane Wood & John Coleman would like to provide the following statements:

Deane Wood:

“Since becoming chairman of this wonderful football club, i’ve made it my objective to grab it with both hands and stabilise financially for the benefit of John, the team and you, the supporters.

Since 2026, the total loss has been over 300,000, which includes in it a number of past debts that have now been paid off. It does not include the 700,000 of debts still left to pay. This isn’t sustainable, to become successful, grow and compete.

Myself, the day to day staff, volunteers, everyone involved with the club throughout the week are working tirelessly to combat this loss, but we need the help of the supporters.

Saturday’s crowd was a huge boost for me personally, it was great to see this increase and i was proud to see the number go up as it did, but we need that, and higher numbers for all of our home games, to increase further, which will allow John and his staff the budget to compete at the top end of this league next season.

To put this into perspective, the increase in the crowd on Saturday amounted to roughly an extra £7000 in match-day revenue on ticket sales alone! Imagine if this sort of increase was for every single fixture.

Myself and the staff are working on a number of projects, and ways to help this club moving into next season, which i’ll be delighted to disclose in the future, but, for now, i need everyone to back us.

We need more sponsors, businesses supporters to get involved with this club, whether that is through sponsorship and revenue, or through work at the grounds around the stadium and on match-days.

I back John, i back our boys, we aren’t safe yet, but the team have done an incredible job at ensuring the best possible chance of that ending result to happen. I want this club to grow, i want to give John the tools to achieve success, but for this to happen i’ll need every single supporter, and business alike!”

John Coleman:

“Since joining Aldershot at the beginning of November, I have been made so welcome and have already developed a strong affection for the club.

I signed a 2 1/2 year contract that is due to be reviewed at the end of the season. Following meetings with Deane Wood, where we have been open and honest with each other, it is clear that we agree on most things.

We have a wonderful fan base but unfortunately not enough numbers at home to facilitate a competitive budget for next season. It is unfair to expect individuals to fund significant losses, particularly in Deane’s case when he has been doing it for the past few years.

Our main priorities now are to secure National League football for next year and to tie down the players we need for next year to compete.

Every bit of support is greatly appreciated going forward and I would like to thank the people behind the scenes, often volunteers, who keep this great club going.
Up the Shots, keep the faith.”
