Aldershot Town Football Club are delighted to announce that, subject to contract, Rushmoor Borough Council have,  provided a Heads of Terms agreement to  grant a long lease for the EBB Stadium for a period of 119 years.

A delighted Chairman Shahid Azeem said, “This is a special announcement that will greatly benefit the football club and allow us the opportunity to provide a redevelopment of our historic and much loved stadium to ensure a sustainable model for the future.

“We have worked tirelessly behind the scenes with Rushmoor Borough Council since the club came out of administration in 2014. We are extremely grateful to the council, Leader David Clifford, CEO Paul Shackley and the officers and staff who have been so supportive to reach today’s announcement. Collectively the council have provided a huge commitment supporting the club as we have continued to work so closely together to help fulfil the aspirations we have to progress the football club.”

“In a season that has proved so challenging for the football club today’s announcement provides a welcome boost for our supporters. It also provides an opportunity to not only set firm foundations for the club but also Aldershot as a town too especially considering the footfall that emanates out of activity at the EBB Stadium throughout the course of the season.

Indeed today’s announcement is the first time such a long lease has been agreed in the history of the EBB Stadium, fondly recalled as the Recreation Ground, in 94 years of history as the home of football in Aldershot. Indeed at the inception of Aldershot Town FC in 1992 the club operated on a small term licence as a requirement to prove its own sustainability at the time.
