CLUB STATEMENT: Alan Woan

Alan played for Aldershot from 1960-1964 and became a fans’ favourite during his time here, scoring 47 goals in over 100 games.

We remember him as one of our fantastic Centurions’ we’ve had at the club with his name permanently remembered on our Centurions’ Board in the Elm Centurions’ Lounge.

His time at Aldershot was mentioned by his family members as one of the most enjoyable of his whole career as a player and always spoke fondly of his time with the club, having had family members born just down the road at Farnham.

Alan joined the Shots after a previous spell within the Football League, playing for the likes of Norwich City, Northampton Town and Crystal Palace also.

His family legacy continues within football as his son Ian, (who everyone at the football club wishes their most sincere condolences at this difficult time), is also currently working within professional football as Assistant Manager at Premier League side Burnley FC, alongside manager Sean Dyche.

We offer our deepest condolences to all of Alan’s family and friends at this extremely difficult moment in time.

He will be greatly missed by all and everyone involved at Aldershot Town is truly heartbroken.

We will also look to include a tribute to Alan within our Shots TV Live coverage on Tuesday night’s home game against Solihull Moors.
