Club receives Armed Forces Covenant’s Gold Award!

Recently we announced that Aldershot Town Football Club has become the first football club to have been awarded Gold Status by the Armed Forces Covenant’s Employer Recognition Scheme and we were proud and privileged to have been invited to Portsmouth to collect the award!

Club Chairman, Shahid Azeem, accompanied by Shots Foundation Manager, Jamie MacAllister, and Rushmoor Borough Council Armed Forces Champion, Nadia Martin, were presented the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award by Lord Lancaster and the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire aboard the HMS Warrior in Portsmouth.

This makes Aldershot Town Football Club the very first football club in the entire football system to be awarded for our work with the military, armed services, veterans and families. This is a very proud moment for the club and many thanks to all the staff, players and management, with so much good work carried out by the Shots Foundation in particular.

Aldershot Town was the first football club to sign the military Corporate Covenant back in 2014 and led every club in the National League, North and South to do so. We are forever indebted to our armed services.
