Shots Sign Left-Back Arthur

Aldershot Town have signed left-back Chris Arthur following his release from Crawley Town.

The 27 year-old, who began his career at Queen’s Park Rangers, made 12 appearances for the Red Devils last season, having joined from Woking in June 2016. 93 games in the National League for The Cards had been preceded by 29 appearances for League Two side AFC Wimbledon.

Chris, who is equally adept as a left-winger, has also played for Havant and Waterlooville, Northampton Town and Rotherham United.

“I’ve played with quite a few of the boys before and I’ve known the gaffer for a long time, since I was a teenager, so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me. I’ve always wanted to work with him again and he was a massive factor” admitted Arthur, who was coached by Gary Waddock at QPR. “He developed me and got me playing at quite a few levels up. I enjoyed being coached by him and I’d like to take that opportunity again.

“I was surprised at how young the squad is, I’m actually one of the older boys which is a first for me, but it’s a good squad and hopefully we can push on this season. It’s an ambitious squad but they did well last season and I don’t see why we can’t go past the Play-Offs this year. The squad looks really sharp and really good so I’ve got high expectations.”

He will wear shirt number 20 and is eligible for selection as The Shots begin the 2017-18 National League season against FC Halifax Town tomorrow.
