Fundraising continues as all of Aldershot Town’s playing squad and office staff prepare to participate in Thursday’s 24-Hour Cyclathon in aid of Children in Need at the Garrison Sports Centre.
Donations can be made via the Centre’s JustGiving page or by texting CINA72 and your amount to 70070, as the event seeks to set a new official Guinness World Record for Most Electrical Energy Produced by Pedalling on Static Bicycles for 24 Hours.
Organised by the Garrison Sporyts Centre and its managers Aspire Defence Services Limited, the target is 72,000 watts, with 30-minute slots available for cyclists from midday on Thursday.
Interested supporters should contact Mike Barnett via mike.barnett@aspiredefence.co.uk or call 01252 347724 or 0845 129 3153. The event is open to anyone over the age of 16 and your support will help raise money for Children in Need.
By volunteering you will have the opportunity to ride one of 40 bikes used by British Cycling. The bikes have console displays recording the wattage being generated and scrutineers will be on hand to verify the record – along with the event being streamed live on YouTube!
A live DJ will be on hand to provide musical inspiration, and sports massages will be available to soothe aching legs, in return for a donation to Children in Need!
