Chelsea Host Canaries On Wednesday

Chelsea host Norwich City in a Barclays Under 21 Premier League fixture at the EBB Stadium tomorrow night, Wednesday 17 February, at 7.05pm.

The young Blues are currently on a run of one defeat in six matches, scoring 16 goals in the process. They are seventh in the Under 21 Premier League table but have up to five games in hand on teams above them.

As Academy graduates such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Dominic Solanke, Charly Musonda and Isaiah Brown rise to first-team prominence either at the Bridge or with top flight clubs around Europe, the spotlight has fallen on a new generation of stars who have already won both the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.

Striker Tammy Abraham continues to be prolific, with 21 goals already this season to add to the 41 he scored in 2014-15. Kasey Palmer is a creative midfielder with a reputation for scoring spectacular goals, whilst Charlie Colkett – captain of the FA Youth Cup-winning team – has been hailed as one of Chelsea’s best homegrown talents in many years. Exciting Ecuadorian winger Josi Quintero, signed last year from Barcelona, has only just turned 19 but is already making a big impact in the Under 21 team.

Norwich City’s squad is likely to feature first-team squad members Remi Matthews and Reece Hall-Johnson, as well as prodigious 16 year-old winger Glenn Middleton, and Louis Ramsay who scored a stunning volley as City came back from 4-1 down to beat Middlesbrough 5-4 in the FA Youth Cup fifth round earlier this month.

Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with Chelsea and Aldershot Town season ticket holders admitted free of charge.

Future Chelsea games at the EBB Stadium include the visit of Leicester City for another Under 21 Premier League fixture on Monday 14 March.
