Girls attending tomorrow’s FREE Football in the Community coaching session at Connaught School will be met by a special guest – Chelsea Ladies and England Under 20 goalkeeper Becky Spencer.
Spencer (pictured below) joined The Blues – current Women’s Super League champions and FA Women’s Cup holders – in January from Birmingham City, having begun her career with Arsenal Ladies. She will be on hand to pass on invaluable experience and tips, as well as answer questions about her career.
The Wednesday evening sessions, for girls of all abilities aged 13 – 17, are held on the 3G all-weather pitch at Connaught Leisure Centre, with qualified coaches. They are part of The Football League Trust’s Female Football Development (FFD) programme, designed to develop the women and girls game in Britain. The Shots Community Trust have already seen an increase in participation locally, and hope to encourage even more females to join them in future.
