Aldershot Town FC can confirm that Women’s First-Team Manager, Aym’e Melham, has stepped down from her role and has decided to leave the club. Assistant Manager, Emma Gregory-Barns, will assume the role of First-Team Manager, effective immediately.
Aym’e has been a huge driving factor in the re-formation of the The Shots women’s section, working tirelessly with Academy Manager, Richard Anderson, for over a year to lay the foundations of the team before a ball was even kicked. Her tenure comes to an end having guided the team to seven league wins from seven in their first season, including a memorable 10-0 victory at the EBB Stadium in front of over 300 spectators.
On her decision to leave the club, Aym’e said: “After careful consideration, I’ve made the decision to step away from my role as Manager of Aldershot Town Women & from the club. This has been an incredible chapter — re-launching women’s football into Aldershot, building solid foundations for the long term , and remaining unbeaten in our first 7 fixtures – moments I’ll always be proud of.”
She continued:”I’m grateful to the players, staff, and supporters who made this journey so rewarding. I leave on good terms, excited for what comes next — and I’ll always be cheering for the team’s continued success. I couldn’t be Leaving the team in better hands. Emma Gregory-Barns, go smash it with the team. Up the shots!”
The Club wishes Aym’e the very best in her next venture, and thanks her for all of her hard work and success.
Emma Gregory-Barns, who has already been at the club since the summer in a variety of roles, including Under 16s Manager and more recently First-Team Assistant Manager, spoke of her delight at being appointed as Aym’e’s successor: “I’m so happy to have the opportunity to manage the ladies. I hope to continue leading them in their maiden league campaign, and to be someone who supports their growth and personal development as players.”
“I’d like to thank everyone at the club for their support and belief in me, especially Richard and Louis. I also want to thank Aym’e for all her help when I first arrived, and wish her the very best in her next venture.”
Welcome Emma! She takes charge of her first game this Sunday in the Women’s Invitation Cup away at Millbrook Ladies.
