ACADEMY MATCH REPORT: Leatherhead u23s 0-3 Aldershot Town u23s (Pre-Season Friendly)

Aldershot Town produced a thumping display against Leatherhead u23s as The Shots ran out comfortable winners on Saturday.

Aldershot Town were aiming to come back from their previous defeat and they started brilliantly when they opened the scoring through Leandro Jardim. Jardim has hit fine form in pre-season, scoring in back-to-back games and he will be looking to continue his goalscoring form in the new season starting on Saturday.

The Shots excelled in their early dominance over Leatherhead and it paid off when Aldershot Town forced an own goal from Leatherhead to double their lead. Academy manager Ross McNeilly has encouraged the players to play out from the back and press the ball as soon as they lose it and it seems to be working.

Aldershot Town continued to control the tempo and possession as they looked for a third goal to kill off the game and end any hopes of a comeback for Leatherhead.

Leatherhead tried to get back into the game but couldn’t find a way through Aldershot Town’s defence and the Shots’ final pre-season game would end on a significant high as Harvey Walker put the final nail in the coffin for Leatherhead.

Leatherhead couldn’t stop in-form Jardim and co as The Shots go into the opening game of the season with full confidence that they can start the season with a victory. The Shots’ season starts on Saturday against Corinthians u23s with Aldershot Town looking to carry on their impressive form from pre-season that ended with a high.
