Shots Travel To Bluebirds On Opening Day

Aldershot Town will make their longest away trip of the season on the opening day of the 2016-17 Vanarama National League campaign, with a game at Barrow on Saturday 6 August.

The Bluebirds – managed by Paul Cox – finished eleventh in the National League last season. The Shots won last season’s corresponding fixture 3-1, in September 2015, before the visitors exacted revenge with a 1-0 win at the EBB Stadium in April.

Gary Waddock’s first home game follows on Tuesday 9 August, with the visit of National League South Play-Off winners Maidstone United.

The Shots face a Christmas and New Year derby double-header against local rivals Woking, with the home match scheduled for Boxing Day, Monday 26 December, before the return fixture at Kingfield on Sunday 1 January.

The Shots host newcomers North Ferriby United on Saturday 27 August, with a Bank Holiday Monday fixture at Dover Athletic following two days later. Easter 2017 also brings two matches, on Friday 14 April at Tranmere Rovers and, on Easter Monday, 17 April, versus Dover Athletic, before the season closes with a home game against Braintree Town on Saturday 29 April.

After their relegation from League Two, The Shots renew acquaintances with both York City and Dagenham and Redbridge in October, with trips to Bootham Crescent on Saturday 1 October and the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Tuesday 25 October.
