Paul Shrubb: Happy 60th Birthday

Everybody at Aldershot Town wishes Paul Shrubb a very happy 60th birthday today, Saturday 1 August.

Guildford-born Paul, who played for both Aldershot FC and Aldershot Town, was given two years to live when diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in January 2006.

A right-back or central-midfielder, Paul made 182 appearances for Aldershot between 1982 and 1987, before returning to become Player-Coach and then Assistant Manager of Aldershot Town between 1992 and 1997, making a further 31 appearances. In total, he won three promotions during his time at the Club and was awarded a testimonial against Charlton Athletic on his 52nd birthday in 2007.

Paul now lives in Aldershot and was forced to retire from his own window cleaning business in 2009. Now, he acts as a mentor for fellow MND patients at Farnham’s Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice www.PTH.org.uk.
