Reece signs new deal

Manager Dean Holdsworth is delighted to announce that striker Reece Connolly has signed a new contract which commits him to the club until June 2013 with an additional one year option.

Speaking to Premium Shots the boss said, “This is good news for the club. I have always had high regard for Reece and he has great technical ability. He has certainly benefited from his recent loan spell at Farnborough too.

“Reece has gained experience whilst also learning from the physicality of Conference South football. I knew he would score goals and he did. He has returned a stronger man boosted by the weights programme that we had put in place for him and which will continue.

“He is a fantastic young man who is a great prospect for Aldershot Town Football Club and he will continue his development into a talented Football League striker.”

Reece added, “I have been at Aldershot Town for a number of years now progressing from the youth ranks and it is the club that I want to be at. I want to show the supporters that I can play at Football League level and what I can do too.

“My loan spell at Farnborough went well and I learned a great deal whilst also being able to score goals too. I look forward to earning my chance at Aldershot Town and am really happy to have committed myself for the future with the club.”

20 year old Reece was a first year scholar with the Shots during the 2008-09 season and was joint reserve team top scorer that season.

In late April 2010, Reece signed a two-year pro contract with the Shots, thus becoming the first-ever scholar to earn such status at the club. He has recently returned from hos loan spell at Farnborough where he netted 16 goals from 34 appearances.
