Manny Oyeleke Returns To The Shots

Midfielder Manny Oyeleke has returned to Aldershot Town on a short-term contract until 30 April.

The 24 year-old, who was released by League Two Exeter City last summer, is being immediately loaned to Ryman Premier League side Canvey Island until 14 March to help him regain full match fitness.

Manny made 51 appearances and scored six goals for The Shots in three loan spells from Brentford between August 2013 and January 2015. In particular, his dynamic displays in 2013-14 proved crucial in helping The Shots secure their place in the Skrill Premier.

Oyeleke, who began his career at Chelsea, is a graduate of the Bees’ Academy but was released in May 2015 after just three first-team appearances, along with further loan spells at Northampton Town and Woking.

Manny played 11 matches for The Grecians in 2015-16, including a goalscoring appearance against Sunderland in a League Cup second round tie which Exeter eventually lost 6-3. He left City in May 2016 but soon suffered an injury which has kept him out of the game until now.

“I’ve got loads of great memories here, I love the Club and the fans, so I’m excited to be back,” said Oyeleke. “I’ve also heard a lot of good things about the gaffer, from players he has worked with, and I can see that the team play good football, so it’s a good match for me.

“Gary really wants to help players improve and at this stage in my career I want to be at a Club where the gaffer is dedicated to improving players. We also want to get results and I think we’ve got a good chance to push on for the rest of this season. I’m raring to go as soon as I can.”

“I’m delighted to have brought Manny back to the Club,” said manager Gary Waddock. “I’ve always liked him as a player, and saw a lot of his games here in his loan spells from Brentford. When he’s 100% fit he will be an excellent addition to the squad.”
