FREE European Football At The ESS

FREE European football returns to the Electrical Services Stadium this Wednesday, 25 February, as Chelsea host Russian side FC Zenit St Petersburg in the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League. Kick-off is at 7pm.

The Blues won Group G with five wins from their six games, scoring 24 goals and conceding just three in the process, whilst FC Zenit finished second in Group C, behind Benfica. Top scorer in this season’s UEFA Youth League is Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke, with seven, who earlier this season made his first-team debut against NK Maribor to become The Blues’ youngest-ever player in the Champions League.

In their Group C campaign, FC Zenit recorded a 4-1 victory in Leverkusen as well as a 5-1 thrashing of Benfica before winning 3-1 in Monaco to secure qualification for the last 16.

The draw for subsequent rounds has also been made, with the winners of this tie facing a quarter-final against Atletico Madrid (who have already beaten Arsenal in the last 16) and, in turn, a possible semi-final against Manchester City. Other teams who have qualified for the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League include Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax and Roma.
