Shots Kick-Start Creating Futures Christmas

Aldershot Town have helped to kick-start Christmas celebrations for some of the most vulnerable children in the area with the donation of 10 footballs and free match tickets to the Creating Futures Christmas Present Appeal.

With the assistance of Kevin Matthew, of Club sponsor Central Heating Services, the balls were handed over by Aldershot Town Director Brian Bloomfield to Claire Dixon, Project Manager at Creating Futures.

“We are so grateful to Aldershot Town for donating these footballs to our Christmas Present Appeal,” said Claire. “I know how pleased our children and young people will be to receive one. Out thanks also go to Kevin at Central Heating Services for setting everything up.”

Creating Futures will also receive free tickets to forthcoming Aldershot Town matches as part of the Club’s Community Stand programme, which sees local businesses donate tickets to local youth clubs and schools.

Based in Farnborough, Creating Futures work with children aged 5 – 19 to improve the communities they live in by providing help in overcoming barriers, raising aspirations and enabling achievements. Originally founded in 2007 as The Gaming Zone – a youth club in one of the top 20% areas of deprivation in England – Creating Futures was established in April 2014.

The charity continues to work with hundreds of children and young people each week, with play provision for 5-10 year-olds in a safe, friendly and nurturing environment, and youth provision, offering leisure activities and practical advice on issues such as drugs, sexual health and relationships, for 11 – 19 year-olds.

In June 2015, the Creating Futures Football Tournament was held at Farnborough Sixth Form College, with 20 teams competing under the expert guidance of Wolves winger, and Creating Futures Ambassador, Jed Wallace.

Creating Futures sites in Aldershot include Connaught School, The Base at Aldershot Park and The Base in North Town. For further details, visit www.creatingfuturescharity.org.
