Junior Mendes
Junior is a strong and quick forward who is more than capable of holding the ball.
He was originally a trainee at Chelsea and signed full pro forms in July 1995, but never made a first team appearance. He was released by the Blues in April 1996 and signed for St.Mirren. In 1997-98, he was St.Mirren's top scorer with 9 goals. During the 1998-99 season, he was loaned to Carlisle United before his goals helped St.Mirren win the Division 1 title in 1999-2000.
He left Love Street in the summer of 2000 and joined Dunfermline Athletic for a fee of £20,000, but the move didn't really work out and he re-joined St.Mirren in June 2002.
Junior joined Mansfield Town in January 2003 and, along with Rhys Day, was part of the side that lost the Division 3 Play-Off Final (on penalties) to Huddersfield Town in 2004. That summer, he joined Huddersfield!
In November 2004, he scored on his international debut for Montserrat against Antigua and Barbuda in a CONCACAF Cup match.
During the 2005-06 season, Junior had loan spells at Northampton Town and Grimsby Town before eventually signing for Notts County in the summer of 2006. He was loaned out to Lincoln City in March 2007 and played a part in them getting into the League 2 Play-Off Semi-Finals.
He was released by County in the summer of 2007 and eventually ended up signing a short-term deal at Aldershot Town in February 2008. He proved to be an excellent addition to the squad and scored both goals in the 4-2 aggregate defeat by Ebbsfleet United in that season's FA Trophy Semi-Final.
He was also one of the goalscorers in the Setanta Shield Final as well as playing in the run-in to the winning of the Blue Square Premier title.
Shortly after the end of the season, Junior signed a deal to keep him at the Rec until the end of 2008. This deal was later extended to the end of the 2008-09 season. Junior went on loan to Stevenage Borough in April.
