Jonny Dixon Signs

We are pleased to announce the permanent signing of striker Jonny Dixon from Wycombe Wanderers

DIXON RETURNS !

Aldershot Town Football Club are pleased to announce that 22 year old striker Jonny Dixon has signed from Football League 2 side Wycombe Wanderers to the end of the 2007/08 season for a fee of £6000.

The confirmation of the signing means that it will be the third time Dixon has linked up with the Shots after serving two successful loan periods at the club over the past two seasons.

Manager Terry Brown said, 'It has been well documented that Jonny is a forward I have been targeting for the past two years.

'This is a great opportunity for Jonny to establish himself as a permanent feature in the team and to play every week. If he can do that then we will have one of the best strikers in the Conference league.'

"A significant part of the transfer fee came from the Supporters Transfer Fund and I am truly grateful to everybody that contributed to this".

The boss also confirmed that Jonny was signed at the earliest opportunity after the FA Cup match at Blackpool combined with Wycombe Wanderers' Carling Cup semi final versus Chelsea played last evening where he came on as a late substitute against Jose Mourinho's side.

The 22 year old signed expressed his desire to team up again with manager Brown and to rekindle his popularity with the Aldershot supporters after turning down offers from Stevenage Borough, Dagenham and Redbridge and Grays Athletic.

Chairman John McGinty added, 'It was a pleasure dealing with Jonny and his father in the negotiations and we did have to wait until the Chelsea match was played.

'Jonny has the heart and desire to come to Aldershot Town and be successful. We welcome him back to the club and hope that he can help light the place up as we enter an important part of the season'.

Jonny joined Wycombe Wanderers from the youth ranks and made his debut in the 2002/03 season where he scored five goals from 14 starts. In total he made 80 appearances for the Chairboys' scoring seven goals although 57 of those matches were as a substitute.

His first introduction to Aldershot Town came when he joined on loan in November 2004. He scored nine goals from just 13 matches including a hat-trick at Gravesend and Northfleet and a brace in a comprehensive FA Cup first round victory at home to Canvey Island.

Returning on a second loan in February 2006 Jonny added a further four goals from 10 matches. In total he has scored 13 goals in 23 appearances for Aldershot Town.

Jonny will be in the squad for Saturday's Conference National match at home to Crawley Town.
