Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice

Official Club Charity

The official charity of the football club is the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. Aldershot is a major town within the catchment area of 600,000 people. The hospice was opened in 1979 and cares for patients that suffer from a life limiting illness and their families too. We have 18 beds within the hospice which are used by patients needing symptom control, respite care or terminal care. At the moment, two of these beds are closed due to a drop in general donations and legacy income. We are working hard to raise the funds to re-open these beds. We also have a Day Hospice which is used by over 2,500 patients per year and a Community Nurse Specialist Team that make over 1000 home visits per year. It costs over £4.5 million per year to ensure that the hospice continues to provide the service that it does to the local community and less than 16% is funded by the NHS, under half the national average. There is no charge made to our patients or families and the Hospice relies heavily on the generosity of the local community to support the valuable role that it plays.

In the UK, one in three people get cancer and one in four die from it. At some point in your life, you or someone you know may need our services, so please help us to safeguard the future of the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

They ended their second spell as sponsors of the football club at the end of last season after originally sponsoring
the club in 1997/98. Charters returned as main sponsors for the club at the start of the 2004/05
season. Based on the Ash Road Charters are the main Peugeot dealers in the area. They also
have branches in Alton, Camberley, Reading, Maidenhead and Uxbridge.
