Gas match off !

Saturday's npower League 2 match at home to Bristol Rovers has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Football League official Colin Lymer inspected the playing surface late on Friday afternoon after the club made an initial request to the Football League earlier in the day.

Head Groundsman Andy Nunn said, "It is not good news. We have been worried all day really due to the temperatures overnight. We were comfortable up to -5 but it dipped below that which meant that it was always going to be a problem on the South Stand.

"The covers which we laid earlier in the week did a good job and the majority of the pitch was playable but it wasn't to be and it is the correct decision.

"With snow forecast over the weekend the covers will now remain on and we will lift them at the start of the week to prepare for the youth team fixture on Tuesday night."
